Candidate Information Sessions

With this year’s election coming up on Oct. 16, the municipality is conducting candidate information sessions.

When:
Monday, July 24, 3 p.m.

Where:
7th Floor Boardroom, Jubilee Centre, 9909 Franklin Ave.

Additional candidate information sessions are expected to be announced in the weeks ahead, including for rural communities in the region.

Earlier sessions were held April 26, May 10 and June 19.

Official Ward 2 By-Election Results

The Legislative Services Department is responsible for conducting all municipal elections and by-elections, in accordance with the requirements of the Local Authorities Election Act. 

Municipal elections occur every four years on the third Monday in October; however, a by-election can occur at any time. The next general municipal election will be held on Oct. 16, 2017.

Information on this website will be updated periodically to reflect any changes to legislation and to inform citizens of the electoral process.

Note: Provincial legislation now requires individuals who intend to run for all future municipal elections to register with the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo before accepting any campaign contributions. The candidate registration legislation, which took effect on Jan. 1, 2014, does not apply if the candidate’s entire election campaign is funded exclusively out of the candidate’s own funds, up to a maximum of $10,000.
