The following notice, issued June 4, 2014, is addressed to former employees dismissed without cause during the period 2011-2014 who may be interested in participating in the current Accountability, Integrity and Transparency Audit.

 

Opportunity to participate in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo’s
Accountability, Integrity and Transparency Audit

Council for the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo passed the following motion on May 27, 2014:

That Administration take all necessary steps to ensure that former employees dismissed without cause during the period 2011-2014 may speak freely with the external Accountability, Integrity and Transparency Audit team with respect to the circumstances of their dismissal, without being in breach of any contractual obligation of non-disclosure or confidentiality;
That written notification of the above be sent to all affected employees on or before June 15, 2014; and
That the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo and the said employees maintain their contractual obligations of non-disclosure or confidentiality for all other purposes.

The company conducting the audit is KPMG LLP. This letter is to advise that you have an opportunity to speak with KPMG until Monday, June 30, 2014. Should you wish to discuss circumstances of your departure from the Municipality, the contact information is provided below:

Please be advised that whether or not you choose to participate will not affect the terms of any termination agreements that were signed upon dismissal and will not affect any compensation you may have received. This invitation releases your obligations for “confidentiality” in the termination agreements only to the extent to allow you an opportunity to discuss the circumstances of your dismissal with KPMG. You are expected to uphold your obligations for confidentiality and not discuss or disclose these circumstances with any other individuals or organizations. Your identity will be kept confidential by KPMG.
