Colleen Tatum - Ward 1
Colleen Tatum believes in a Wood Buffalo that is livable, strong and belongs to us-the year round residents of Wood Buffalo, she keeps these three things in mind in everything that she does as councilor.
Colleen was born and raised in Fort McMurray, and together with her husband Adam they have chosen to raise their three small children here too. She wants to represent all the families that have chosen to do the same.
Colleen and Adam own and operate MXC Automotive Services which was recognized by the Fort McMurray Chamber of Commerce as the small business of the year of 2011. Being a small business owner Colleen understands the challenges of doing business in Wood Buffalo, and as a Councillor she is committed to ensuring small businesses have the opportunity to thrive. She believes that having successful local businesses creates community and increases the quality of life for residents.
Colleen advocates for more retail, dining and recreation options for families and especially for more health care options for women and girls. She is also a big proponent of reducing fly in fly out to ensure that locals get more job opportunities, to reduce the cost of living and to make sure that we get the access to the services we deserve.
Colleen has served as Director with the Northeastern Alberta Aboriginal Business Association, and Wood Buffalo Food Bank, as well as sitting on RMWB committees such as community identification. She also runs an annual fundraiser called “Tires for Tots” in support of local non-profits that assist local families in need.
Open to all ideas to further enhance our community, Colleen looks forward to serving residents and building an incredible future for Wood Buffalo.
