Wood Buffalo 2022 Arctic Winter Games Host Society

When a municipality is awarded the right to host an Arctic Winter Games (AWG), it forms a Host Society to manage the event based on the terms of the hosting contract and the AWG Staging Manual.

The Host Society will plan, develop and carry out all aspects of the 2022 Wood Buffalo Arctic Winter Games.

Director – Sponsorship & Donations

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the Sponsorship and Ticketing Committees
  • Oversee the development and implementation of a sponsorship and fundraising plan to ensure the success of the 2022 Arctic Winter Games
  • Develop and implement a sponsorship budget
  • Oversee the development, maintenance and implementation of sponsorship guidelines to increase sponsorship recruitment, satisfaction and support
  • Ensure the satisfaction of sponsors and donors and that sponsorship contract obligations are met
  • Establish an event ticketing system
  • Oversee the development of the Games ticketing plan including ticket types, pricing, sales plans and venue capacities

Requirement:

The Director of Sponsorship and Donations is an individual with a strong sense of community, along with experience in sponsorship and fundraising and access to business and community leaders.

Director – Administration

Director – Marketing & Public Relations

  • Oversee the registrations and accreditations for all participants and volunteers
  • Work within budgets for all committees

  • Oversee establishing local transportation system for all participants, officials and special guests
  • Work within budgets for all committee
  • Oversee all necessary security arrangements during Games week to ensure a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for the participants, spectators and guests
  • Establish a critical incident plan with the appropriate local agencies
  • Oversee the development and implementation a risk management plan
  • Oversee the development and implementation of comprehensive medical services for all Games participants
  • Retain qualified medical personnel as volunteers
  • Oversee the creation of a nutritious and diverse meal for all Contingent participants
  • Oversee the development and implementation of the catering schedules and offsite meals
  • Oversee the development and implementation of the accommodations plans for all Contingents

When a municipality is awarded the right to host an Arctic Winter Games (AWG), it forms a Host Society to manage the event based on the terms of the hosting contract and the AWG Staging Manual.  The Host Society will plan, develop and carry out all aspects of the 2022 Wood Buffalo Arctic Winter Games.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate all sport competitions as described in the Arctic Winter Games Technical Package
  • Coordinate the preparation and competition of each sport
  • Coordinate all activities amongst these committees and act as a professional resource to each committee chair
  • Oversee the obtaining of all officials for all sporting events as described in the Arctic Winter Games Technical Package
  • Work with Contingents to provide major sport officials
  • Develop and implement any official training and development that would be needed to ensure qualified officials for the Games
  • Work within budgets for all committees

  • Oversee the preparations of the venues for all cultural, entertainment and award events

The Director of Culture and Ceremonies is an individual with a strong sense of community and background in event planning.  The successful candidate should possess strong leadership skills, analytical and strategic thinking abilities, the ability to multi-task and superior interpersonal skills.

Director – Volunteer & Protocol

  • Oversee the planning and development of the volunteer recognition event
  • Oversee the development plan for the recognition of Special Guest of the games that will include government officials, corporate sponsors and sport leaders
  • Oversee the development of translation services for Games

The Director of Volunteer and Protocol is an individual with a strong sense of community and background in community service.  The successful candidate should possess strong leadership skills, analytical and strategic thinking abilities, the ability to multi-task and superior interpersonal skills.

Director at Large

When a municipality is awarded the right to host an Arctic Winter Games (AWG), it forms a Host Society to manage the event based on the terms of the hosting contract and the AWG Staging Manual. The Host Society will plan, develop and carry out all aspects of the 2022 Wood Buffalo Arctic Winter Games.

The Director at Large will work closely with the community on all aspects of the 2022 Wood Buffalo Arctic Winter Games.

Responsibilities:

  • Working with the school districts within the Municipality
  • Working with the Arctic Winter Games International Committee
  • Working with government departments

Requirement

The Director at Large is an individual with a strong sense of community.  The Director at Large will work closely with the community on all aspects of the 2022 Wood Buffalo Arctic Winter Games. The successful candidate should possess strong leadership skills, analytical and strategic thinking abilities, the ability to multi-task and superior interpersonal skills.
