Assessment Reviews for Wildfire Damage

We want to make sure that all property assessments are fair and accurate.

For residents who have been affected by the 2016 wildfire and believe their 2017 Notice of Assessment is incorrect due to the property’s physical condition as of December 31, 2016, please contact the Assessment office to have your assessment reviewed. If a discrepancy is found in the physical condition of your property due to the wildfire as of this legislated date, an appeal will not be required and a new assessment notice will be issued. Please contact the Regional Assessor at 780-743-7900 or

The Assessment & Taxation department is responsible for the classification and valuation of all property within the Municipality, thereby ensuring fair and equitable distribution of taxes in accordance with provincially legislated standards.

There are two branches within the Assessment and Taxation department:

The Assessment branch is mandated by provincial legislation to fairly and equitably assess all property within the Municipality at market value or regulated cost on an annual basis.

The Taxation branch is responsible for annual tax billing and monitoring the collection of property taxes. It is also responsible for administering the Tax Installment Payment Plan (TIPPs) Program, registration of mortgage information, issuing tax certificates, as well as administering the tax penalty and lien processes. The branch responds to all taxpayers' inquiries pertaining to tax administration issues.
