The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo supports public art initiatives throughout the region. Listed below are current public art opportunities that are available. We encourage artists to submit proposals for the following public art initiatives, and thank all interested artists for their submissions.

Call To Local Photographers And Designers: Traffic Cabinet Wrap Project

The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo seeks digital submissions from local photographers and designers that showcase the region’s natural beauty; embodies a sense of community; promotes physical activity; and/or highlights local culture.

Selected photographs will be transferred onto a vinyl wrap to be installed on 42 traffic cabinets located along Confederation, Thickwood and MacKenzie Boulevards in Fort McMurray, AB. This project aims to support public art and beautification initiatives while deterring vandalism of public property.

Budget: $500 CAD (plus GST) per selected design
(Artists may submit up to two designs/photographs per theme)

Dimensions: 25”w x 21”dp x 48”ht OR 44”w x 26”dp x 55”ht (two different types of cabinets)

Deadline for Submission: 4 p.m. (MST), Monday, Aug. 14, 2017

Successful Notification Date: Thursday, Aug. 17, 2017

Installation Date: Aug./Sept. 2017

Call to Artists: igNIGHT 2017

Local artists are invited to submit proposals to stage temporary, light-based public art in downtown Fort McMurray.
