Shootout on the Snye 10th Anniversary
Congratulations to the winning teams of the 10th annual Shootout on the Snye pond hockey tournament!
Initiation: Tar Town Shooters
Novice: Ice Snipers
Peewee: Canadian Dusters
Open: Blades of Steel
Ice hockey has been played on the frozen waterways of our region for decades, going as far back as the 1930s. Back then, hockey teams from the communities of Fort McMurray and Waterways would compete for the Fairbairn Cup, which was donated by the owner of Imperial Oil, Jack Fairbairn.
The 2017 tournament is particularly special as it marked the 10th anniversary of Shootout on the Snye in its current format.
Thank you to our volunteers and community partners!
WinterPLAY, as with all RMWB events, could not be successful without the talented, generous and committed volunteers and community partners. Thank you for giving back to your community!
