Community and Protective Services
The Community and Protective Services department promotes standards, builds capacity and protects the safety, health and welfare of our residents within the community to improve the quality of life and strives to achieve the goal of building a future with opportunities for all.
The department is supported by the following branches:
Community Services provides quality programs and services through collaborative partnerships and strategic alliances with community groups, non-profit organizations and residents.
Bylaw Services strives to raise awareness and compliance with various Bylaws in the Municipality. Some of the Bylaws overseen by this branch include the Roads and Transportation Bylaw, Single-Use Shopping Bag Bylaw, Vehicle for Hire Bylaw, Nuisance Bylaw and Smoke Free Bylaw.
The RCMP is Canada's national police service, providing law enforcement services in detachments across the country. The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo contracts the RCMP to provide police services for its citizens. The RCMP is proud of our traditions and confident in meeting future challenges. The RMWB's RCMP Detachment is committed to preserving the peace, upholding the law and providing quality service in partnership with our communities.
