Permit News Updates

March 7, 2016 11:10:00 AM

Starting April 1, 2016, the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo will be enforcing the terms and conditions of the Homeowner Safety Codes Permit.

If a homeowner residing at a property is hiring a contractor to complete any work to an electrical, plumbing or gas system, the qualified professional is now responsible for obtaining the permits and requesting the required inspections. However, if the homeowner residing at the property is completing the work him or herself, the homeowner must obtain a permit to complete work and are required to request an inspection from the Safety Codes branch.

These changes are being implemented in order to comply with the Alberta Permit Regulation, which enables a homeowner residing at a property to obtain a permit for installing, adding or altering a plumbing, gas or electrical system.

If you have any questions or concerns with this change, please contact Planning and Development at 780-799-8695 or current.planning@rmwb.ca. Alternatively, you can visit us at 309 Powder Drive.
