Draper Slope Stability Assessment now available

(Fort McMurray, AB – August 1, 2017) – The Draper Slope Stability Assessment conducted by Thurber Engineering Ltd. following the 2016 wildfire is now available.

The assessment indicates lot-specific geotechnical assessments will continue to be required for all development in areas immediately impacted by slope in the community, including the rebuild of five homes damaged in the wildfire.

The assessment was conducted following resident concerns about slope stability and following a study conducted for the entire Urban Service Area of Fort McMurray.

All development on or near the slope in Draper has required lot-specific geotechnical assessments since 1999.

Residents with concerns about slope stability related to standing homes or to development outside the study area are encouraged to contact the Planning and Development Department by email at planningdevelopment@rmwb.ca or by phone at 780-799-8695.

More information on the requirements of a lot-specific geotechnical assessment can be found at rmwb.ca/rebuild.
