Bylaw Services Weekly Update Sept. 18 – 24, 2017

(Fort McMurray, AB – September 15, 2017) – With school back in session, drivers are reminded that children are particularly vulnerable road users.

It is important to remember not to park within 10 meters of crosswalks, because children may not be tall enough to see around vehicles. By parking 10 meters away from crosswalks, clear sightlines are available for both pedestrians and motorists.

There are also clearly marked no-parking areas in school zones, which are in place for bus traffic. It is unsafe to park in these areas. Please take a moment to think about safety before you park in a school zone.

Photo radar vehicles will be located near the following areas for week of Sept. 18 – 24, 2017:

  • Alberta Drive
  • Franklin Avenue
  • Eglert Drive
  • Signal Road
  • Loutit Road
  • All school and playground zones within the Urban Service Area
