Call for Applications for Annual Community Investment Program Grants Now Open

(Fort McMurray, AB – April 3, 2017) – The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo is accepting applications for four Community Investment Program grant opportunities. The grants open for applications are as follows:

Community Beautification Grant – This grant encourages community groups and non-profit organizations to submit applications for projects that aim to beautify the region. Applicants may apply for grant funding up to a maximum of $5,000.

Crime Prevention and Community Safety Grant – This grant offers community groups and non-profit organizations the opportunity to submit applications for programs that support crime prevention and community safety in the region. Applicants may apply for grant funding up to a maximum of $10,000.

Games Legacy Grant – This grant encourages participation in amateur sport and cultural activities by providing financial assistance to athletes and performers competing or training at a provincial, national or international level. Individual applicants may apply for grant funding up to a maximum of $2,000 and team/group applicants up to a maximum of $3,000.

Joint Initiatives Funding – This grant supports partnerships that promote, encourage and assist community groups and non-profit organizations that enhance the quality of life for residents in the Municipality through artistic growth, excellence in sport and stimulating economic development. Applicants may apply for grant funding up to a maximum of $20,000.

The deadline to apply for these grants is April 28 at 4:30 p.m. MST.

This year, the Community Investment Program is shifting from two calls for applications to an annual call.

“This shift will move our program towards a more transparent and accountable process,” said Barbara Walsh, Community Investment Advisor. “We want to ensure we take a balanced approach for all of our applicants.”
