Canada Day Parade welcomes thousands to downtown Fort McMurray

(Fort McMurray, AB – July 6, 2017) – The weather was on our side as thousands lined Franklin Avenue to celebrate Canada 150 at the 2017 Canada Day parade. 

The following four “Best in Parade” float winners were selected from the 73 entrants by volunteer float judges in this year’s parade: 

Best Entry Youth Group: 2803 Army Cadets 
Best Entry Social/Service Organization: Alberta Forestry and Environment & Parks
Best Entry Commercial Group: Alberta Motor Association (AMA)
Judges’ Choice: YMM Pride Committee and 2018 Alberta Winter Games

“This year’s parade was a great showcase of our wonderful community on our country’s 150th birthday,” said coordinator Roxanne Andras. “We’d like to say a special thank you to our corporate and community partners, as well as our volunteers who donated their time to help make Canada 150 a success!”
Thank you to our Canada Day Community Committee for coordinating the Canada Day family activities, live music and fireworks. This committee was made up of the Regional Recreation Corporation, the Fort McMurray Chamber of Commerce, the Multicultural Association of Wood Buffalo and the Fort McMurray Heritage Society.
