Election 2017: Official results

(Fort McMurray, AB – Oct. 20, 2017) – The results from the 2017 municipal election were declared official as of 12 p.m. MT. There are no changes to the unofficial results announced by the Municipality on Election Day.

The official results for Mayor, Councillors, Fort McMurray Catholic School District Board of Trustees and Fort McMurray Public School District Board of Trustees can be viewed at

“On behalf of my Council-elect colleagues, I would like to sincerely thank everyone who voted in this year’s election,” said Mayor-elect Don Scott. “We are humbled and honoured to serve this region, and we look forward to getting to work and taking action toward making Wood Buffalo an even better place to call home.”

13,214 voters participated in the 2017 election. This represents the highest number of votes cast in a municipal election in Wood Buffalo history.

The Mayor and Councillors will be sworn-in and will be holding their annual organizational meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 24 at 6 p.m. MT at Shell Place, Ballroom B&C (1 C.A. Knight Way). The swearing-in ceremony and meeting will be streamed live at
