Emergency Services pancake breakfast and open house to take place this Saturday, and Fire Fighter Memorial Service being held Monday, September 11

(Fort McMurray, AB –September 8, 2017) – Regional Emergency Services has a busy weekend ahead with the annual pancake breakfast and open house this Saturday followed by its Fire Fighters Memorial Service on Monday.

Pancake Breakfast and Open House: Saturday, September 9

Saturday’s event is from 9 a.m. to noon at Fire Hall 1 (2 Tolen Drive), and welcomes residents to meet the firefighters and enjoy a delicious breakfast. All proceeds from the event support the Friends of the Fort McMurray Firefighter’s Charities and are donated locally.

Activities for the whole family include touring the fire safety trailer, exploring vehicle and equipment displays, and a fire extinguisher demonstration. For those feeling adventurous, you can bunker up and experience a real fire in the Fire Blast trailer. Kids can enjoy a play area, face painting, running the FireFit course, and a visit from Sparky.

Fire Fighter Memorial Service: Monday, September 11

The Fort McMurray Fire Department Honour Guard will be hosting the Fire Fighter Memorial Service on Monday at Fire Hall 5 (200 Saprae Creek Trail).

The community is invited to attend the ceremony to honour and pay tribute to the fallen fire fighters that have sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. The ceremony will be held at the site of the new fire fighter memorial statue. Seating will begin at 10 a.m. and the ceremony will commence at 10:30 a.m. with refreshments to follow.
