Firefighters Camp Out on the Roof for 100 Hours in Support of Local Charities

(Fort McMurray, AB – April 13, 2017) – Local firefighters are gearing up for the annual 100-hour rooftop campout from April 18-22.

On April 18, five firefighters will climb the fire truck ladder to the top of Tim Hortons where they will sleep, eat, raise funds and brave the elements for 100 straight hours.

The Friends of the Fort McMurray Fire Department will donate the funds raised to five local charities: Fort McMurray Boys and Girls Club, Wood Buffalo Food Bank, Fort McMurray SPCA, Centre of Hope and Waypoints (Fort McMurray Family Crisis Society).

Throughout the campout, a variety of family friendly and nightly events will be held at East Village Pub and Eatery (101-395 Loutit Rd.):

Opening ceremony — Tuesday, April 18, 11 a.m.

Pancake breakfast — Saturday, April 22, 9 a.m.-12 p.m.

Closing ceremony — Saturday, April 22, 8 p.m.

Residents are encouraged to visit the firefighters throughout the four-day campout to enter daily raffles, participate in events and make a donation in the boot.
