Homeowners and job seekers encouraged to attend YMM Home Show and Job Fair

(Fort McMurray, AB – February 27, 2017) – Homeowners and job seekers are encouraged to attend the YMM Home Show and Job Fair on March 3 and 4 in the Nexen Field House at MacDonald Island.

Friday, March 3: 1-7 p.m.
Saturday, March 4: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“We are so excited to be bringing together builders and contractors alongside companies that are hiring in our community,” said Amanda Haitas, Manager, Wood Buffalo Economic Development. “This presents a unique opportunity because many of the builders and contractors are also looking for skilled local employees. They’re able to take part in the YMM Home Show and connect with homeowners while also accepting resumes for their current vacant positions. This event will help bolster the rebuild and recovery of our community.”

More than 100 vendors are registered at the YMM Home Show, offering services for homeowners who are rebuilding and repairing their homes in the wake of the May 2016 wildfire and for homeowners looking to renovate, upgrade, and landscape their homes.

There are more than 80 employers seeking skilled local employees both participating directly in the Job Fair and displaying ‘We Are Hiring’ signs at the YMM Home Show. Job seekers are encouraged to bring their resumes with them to the Job Fair as there will be opportunities for on-the-spot interviews and to deliver resumes to companies currently hiring that were unable to attend.

Presentations on a variety of topics related to home renovations, recovery, and landscaping will be offered throughout the YMM Home Show. The schedule of presentations is as follows:
