Landfill Hours and Fees Updated and Pumpkin Drop-Off Announced

(Fort McMurray, AB – October 27, 2016) – Residents are advised that the landfill will be reverting back to regular operational hours, tipping fees for residential household waste will be reinstated, and the pumpkin drop-off service has been announced.

Effective Nov. 4, the landfill will return to regular operational hours from 8:15 a.m. to 5:45 p.m., seven days a week.

In addition, tipping fees for residential household waste will be reinstated effective Nov. 1. Following a Council resolution in June to waive residential tipping fees, the term of the resolution will end on Oct. 31. Beginning on Nov. 1, tipping fees for residential household waste will be charged as per the Solid Waste Disposal Rates as set out in the Utility Rates Bylaw (No. 10/001).

As Halloween approaches, residents are reminded to drop off their pumpkins and Jack-o’-lanterns at a special depot located at Michelle’s Your Independent Grocer (formerly Extra Foods) at 251 Powder Drive.

From Oct. 31 through to Nov. 7, a bin will be located in the grocery store parking lot for residents to conveniently dispose of their pumpkins. Please be advised that only pumpkins can be received at this location. Outside of the drop-off dates, pumpkins and compostable yard waste can be dropped off at the landfill seven days a week.

For more information, residents can rmwb.ca/landfill or call the Pulse line at 780-743-7000.
