Municipality Announces Stuff-A-Bus Event for the Wood Buffalo Food Bank

(Fort McMurray, AB – October 24, 2016) – Local schools, businesses and industry are invited to register for the first annual Stuff-A-Bus event on Friday, Nov. 18, to raise donations for the Wood Buffalo Food Bank.

“We’re excited to start a new tradition to raise donations for the Wood Buffalo Food Bank,” said Robert Kirby, Director of Transit Services. “This year in particular has been extremely challenging for many families in our region, and the Stuff-A-Bus event is an opportunity to bring residents together by supporting friends and neighbours in the community.”

How to get involved:
•    Register online for Stuff-A-Bus at, or register by phone by calling Transit Call Centre at 780-743-7931 or at the Pulse Call Line at 780-743-7000
•    Registration is open until noon on Thursday, Nov. 17
•    Print off the posters from our web page and post them around your school or office
•    Encourage everyone to bring in donations
•    Collect your donations up until Friday, Nov. 18

On Friday, Nov. 18, a Municipal Transit bus will visit each registered participant to collect their donations. There will be opportunity for recognition of participating businesses, photos, social media, and much more. (You might even catch a glimpse of Santa and Mrs. Claus.)

The school with the most non-perishable food donations per capita will win a free three-hour charter bus provided by Municipal Transit Services. Plan an event for your school, and Municipal Transit Services will take care of the transportation.

We’re banking on extra stuffing this holiday season. Are you up for the challenge?
