Opening of J. Howard Pew Park Spray Park in Waterways marks recovery milestone

(Fort McMurray, AB – June 28, 2017) – The J. Howard Pew Park Spray Park in Waterways has re-opened following repairs to damages sustained during the wildfire, marking an important milestone in the recovery of the community.

Repairs were completed in the spring of 2017 and the park has now officially re-opened.

“People moving back home are looking to return to a sense of normalcy and that includes being able to visit the Spray Park with their children,” said Erin O’Neill, Operations Manager, Recovery Task Force. “It’s important we continue to work toward rebuilding not only the homes in our region but also the parks and amenities that make our region such a great place to call home.”

The Spray Park is open to residents seven days a week throughout the summer months.

Repairs to remaining park infrastructure damaged during the wildfire will begin this summer. More information will be made available in the coming weeks.
