Regular Waste Collection in Rebuild Areas Has Resumed

(Fort McMurray, AB – May 29, 2017) – Regular waste collection has resumed in the rebuild areas of Abasand, Beacon Hill, Stone Creek, Waterways and Wood Buffalo in accordance with the regular schedule.

Abasand, Beacon Hill and Waterways will receive an additional collection on Tuesday, May 30.

In the event that regular collection vehicles are unable to access homes in rebuild areas, manual collection will be used to ensure that service levels are not affected. The temporary waste bins in rebuild communities will remain in place to expedite this contingency should it be necessary.

“We apologize for any inconvenience that resulted from the interruption to waste collection that occurred last week,” said Frederick Thompson-Brown, Manager of Solid Waste Services. “We remain committed to finding solutions that enable uninterrupted service throughout the rebuild.”

Residents in rebuild areas are encouraged to report congestion issues to PULSE at 780-743-7000 or rmwb.ca/pulse. Residents moving into rebuilt homes can contact PULSE for new waste bins.
