Residents Encouraged to Volunteer for Boards and Committees

(Fort McMurray, AB – May 4, 2017) – The Municipality is accepting applications for volunteers to serve on its Council-appointed Boards and Committees. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to get involved and provide input to decision-makers in local government. 

“We encourage residents to take a seat at the table,” said Coun. Lance Bussieres, Chair of the Selection Committee. “This is a great way for engaged residents to shape our community now and for future generations to come.” 

Positions are available on the following Boards and Committees:

  • Advisory Committee on Aging
  • Assessment Review Board
  • Combative Sports Commission
  • Community Identification Committee
  • Communities in Bloom Committee
  • Community Services Committee
  • Landlord and Tenant Advisory Board
  • Land Planning and Development Advisory Committee
  • Library Board
  • Public Art Committee
  • Regional Advisory Committee on Inclusion, Diversity and Equality
  • Regional Recreation Corporation
  • Subdivision and Development Appeal Board
  • Wood Buffalo Housing and Development Corporation 

The Municipality is also looking to fill wait lists for each board and committee. Members of the public who are interested in applying can visit for more information and to download an application form.
