Temporary Mitigation Measures in Place for Off-highway Vehicle (OHV) Access in Saprae Creek

(Fort McMurray, AB – March 6, 2017) – Residents are advised that log barricades have now been placed across several cleared areas in Saprae Creek to temporarily mitigate OHV access near residential properties.

There is increased potential for OHV access near residential properties due to hazardous tree removal in the Saprae Creek area, and the fire breaks located in the Timberlea, Thickwood and Parsons Creek neighbourhoods in Fort McMurray.

The Municipality is currently developing a plan to permanently mitigate the potential increase of OHV access in all affected areas and is collaborating with residents throughout the process. Residents will be notified once the Municipality has determined a permanent solution.

Residents are encouraged to report all concerns about OHV misuse in their area to the Wood Buffalo RCMP at 780-788-4000 or Municipal Bylaw Services at 780-788-4200.
