Toys for Tickets Successfully Supports Our Region’s Families in Need

(Fort McMurray, AB – December 21, 2016) – The Municipality’s Toys for Tickets program concluded on Dec. 20, receiving approximately $1,880 in toys for families in need in our region this holiday season.

During the Toys for Tickets program period of Dec. 1 to 15, 248 timed parking and Winter Maintenance Zones infractions were issued. The program allowed motorists who were issued tickets the opportunity to pay for the violation with toys of the same ticket value.
Fourteen people participated in the initiative and additionally, one generous resident donated approximately $200 in toys from money raised at a bake sale.

All toys have be donated to the Fort McMurray Salvation Army, who will distribute them to local families in need through their Adopt-A-Family program.
