Winter Maintenance Zones Relaxed for Holiday Season: December 26 – 30

(Fort McMurray, AB – December 19, 2016) – Winter Maintenance Zones (WMZs) will be relaxed for the Christmas holiday season from Monday, Dec. 26 until Friday, Dec. 30.

While WMZs are relaxed, residential on-street parking will be permitted. Residents are reminded to watch for any posted signage as other on-street parking restrictions may apply. In addition, the 48-hour parking bylaw will remain in effect as per the Roads and Transportation Bylaw No. 02/079.

Residents are also reminded that the WMZ program affects residential streets only. Crews will continue to maintain primary and secondary routes as required throughout the holiday season.
WMZs will come back into effect on Monday, Jan. 2, 2017, and residential on-street parking restrictions will resume.

Though WMZs are relaxed for the Christmas holiday season, they will not be relaxed for any other statutory holidays that fall on weekdays between Oct. 15 and April 15.
