Winter Maintenance Zones Update – December 2

(Fort McMurray, AB – December 2, 2016) – Winter Maintenance Zones (WMZ) are relaxed through Monday, Dec. 5, though snow is in the forecast in the coming days.

WMZs continue to be relaxed through Monday, Dec. 5, though residents are advised to prepare for on-street parking restrictions as WMZs may be activated next week. WMZs have been relaxed on a day-to-day basis since mid-October pending the need for winter maintenance.

When WMZs are activated, notification will be shared with the public, including on the Municipal website, electronic street signage, and social media. On-street parking restrictions will come back into effect when WMZs are reactivated.

The Municipality’s priority is to inform residents about the program for snow and ice control and to facilitate on-street parking restriction, so that residents can avoid being ticketed or towed.

Residents can identify their Zone by checking the signage along their residential street, by reviewing the mapping provided on the Municipal website, or by using the Find Your Zone tool at rmwb.ca/snowplow.
