Municipality seeks community input to create a Parks Master Plan

(Fort McMurray, AB – Oct. 3, 2017) – The Municipality invites residents to provide their input in an online survey that will inform the creation of a new Parks Master Plan and Urban Forest Strategy.

“We have a great opportunity to gain a better understanding of the public’s expectations and needs from our parks,” said Pankaj Hansora, project lead. “We want this Plan to reflect the values and vision our residents have for greenspaces in the Municipality.”

The Plan is intended to provide guidance for operations, maintenance, development and future growth of the region’s parks and urban forest areas. The Municipality will also be developing an Urban Forest Strategy within the Parks Master Plan, which will guide how the urban forest area is maintained, what kind of trees and shrubs should be selected, and the types of services that should be provided.

The Plan will apply to both the Urban and Rural areas of our region, including all forested areas that the Municipality manages.
