To ensure the safety of residents, access to Abasand, Beacon Hill and Waterways, will be restricted until further notice.
Air, soil, and ash testing of affected areas has confirmed the presence of chemicals that are a risk if residents are exposed to them.
As a result, all residents located in the re-entry Zone 4b communities of Abasand, Beacon Hill and Waterways are not permitted to access their homes on the scheduled re-entry date of June 4.
Plans are being made to ensure safe and controlled access to these communities. For homes that are structurally sound, residents may have time-limited access on a case by case basis to retrieve personal belongings if they are accompanied by the municipality and are supplied with personal protective equipment as outlined by Alberta Health Services.
For homes that have been destroyed, the municipality will arrange for residents to view their property safely. More details will be available on re-entry.
At this time, the area remains secured, and residents will not be permitted to enter.
We appreciate how difficult this may be for some of you, and thank you for your continued patience and resiliency as we work through this process.
