RMWB Wildfire Recovery Information

Now that the wildfire event has passed, it’s important that residents of Anzac, Gregoire Lake Estates, Fort McMurray No. 468 First Nation and area campgrounds clean and test their water tanks.

The Municipality strongly recommends that all residents and commercial properties using cisterns for drinking water drain, clean and disinfect their water tanks prior to use. The Municipality is here to assist with this process by offering advice on how to drain, clean and disinfect your cisterns. A pamphlet from Alberta Health Services explaining how to clean and test tanks was distributed to homes and campgrounds.

Cleaning tanks following long periods of disuse, like the mandatory evacuation we recently went through, should be common practice. While all cisterns are private property, the Municipality encourages healthy and responsible use of private systems that are supplied with Municipal drinking water.
