The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo is re-launching the BAGSTER® waste collection program on Wednesday, August 31, 2016, for residents in Phase 1 Green Zone homes. This program provides BAGSTERs® free of charge for all residents that qualify for municipal curbside waste collection in the Green Zones. Residents who belong to a condo association on or management group that has their waste handled via a contractor are not eligible.

BAGSTER® bags are three cubic yards in size, can hold up to 3,300 lbs. and will be picked up as long as nothing is spilling outside of the perimeters of the bag. BAGSTER® bags should be placed along the curbside – same as where you would place municipal curbside waste collection bins – at least five feet away from any structures, vehicles, fences, trees or other objects.

To receive a BAGSTER®, residents returning to the Phase 1 Green Zones have two options:

  1. Visit an Information Centre in Abasand or Beacon Hill and speak to staff from Waste Management. BAGSTER® bags will be available on-site for residents to take.
  2. Call the PULSE Line at 780-743-7000. Municipal staff will be in contact with you after you register for the program to coordinate BAGSTER® delivery and pick-up details.

To arrange pick-up, residents should call PULSE Line. The deadline to schedule BAGSTER® pick-up is September 15, 2016. After that date, residents will be responsible for pick-up and disposal of the material.

Each eligible household is allowed up to one BAGSTER® bag and only smoke and fire damaged bulky items are allowed, including:

  • Area rugs
  • Pillows
  • Outdoor toys
  • Pet beds
  • Etc.

Items not allowed in the BAGSTER® bag are:

  • Appliances
  • Electronics
  • Mattresses
  • Metals
  • Liquids
  • Hazardous waste
  • Food waste
