The Wood Buffalo Recovery Committee (WBRC) continued its commitment to a community-driven recovery process as it voted on Wednesday night to hold weekly public meetings.
WBRC meetings will be held every Wednesday night at 6 p.m. MT in the Council Chamber at the Jubilee Centre (9909 Franklin Avenue). The meetings are open to the community, streamed live at RMWB.ca and broadcast live on Shaw TV Fort McMurray.
The WBRC will re-evaluate the schedule at its September 28 public meeting based on community need.
“Everything we do will be guided by an open community conversation with our neighbours, families, friends and businesses – especially those most affected by the wildfires,” said Jeanette Bancarz, WBRC Chair. “We are here for you as residents – to listen first – and are facilitating a number of community engagement and information sharing opportunities in collaboration with the Municipality and community stakeholders.”
The community is invited to the first two in a series of upcoming information sessions:
- Thursday, August 18, 4 to 8 p.m. (Suncor Community Leisure, MacDonald Island Park; main concourse)
- Saturday, August 20, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (YMM Home Show at MacDonald Island Park)
The insights gathered from each session will be posted on rmwb.ca/engage in the days following the session.
In addition, the community is reminded of other opportunities to interact with the Municipality and to gather the latest information on recovery efforts:
