Homeowners and builders in the process of rebuilding are reminded there are important considerations regarding utility connections that must be taken into account.
Residents or builders constructing a new property or doing any other project on an existing property that will disturb the earth should contact Alberta One Call at 1-800-242-3447 to ensure they are aware of what’s below the ground. If the new building under construction is unchanged from the previous design, the homeowner or builder is responsible for connecting the service trench from the home to the property line to connect with the tie-in point for utility services.
For driveway installation before utilities have been connected, homeowners or builders are encouraged to contact the utility provider.
Homeowners and builders must contact the utility provider if any changes have been made to the following elements of the home under construction:
- electrical panel and meter location
- mechanical room
- garage location
- driveway configuration
