The deadline to apply for Western Economic Diversification Canada’s Drywall Support Program has been extended to Tuesday, June 13 at 2 p.m. MST.

The program was launched on May 1 and provides short-term financial relief to homeowners in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) whose homes were severely damaged or destroyed in the 2016 Horse River Wildfire.

The Drywall Support Program also benefits Northern and Western Canadian contractors and builders who faced unexpected losses as a result of increased duties placed on imported drywall from the United States between Sept. 6, 2016 and Feb. 24, 2017.

The launch of the program followed a resolution that was made by Council on Oct. 11, which called on the Government of Canada to develop and fund a grant program to compensate property owners in the RMWB who have been affected by the increased cost of drywall while rebuilding homes lost in the wildfire.

Eligible candidates are encouraged to submit their applications before 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 13 to be considered for financial relief.

More information can be found online at rmwb.ca/drywallsupport.

Questions about the Drywall Support Program can be directed to the PULSE Line at 780-743-7000 or to recovery@rmwb.ca.
