In the aftermath of the wildfire, tree clearing took place the urban surface area was implemented to create fireguards or firebreaks.

The work involved the removal of trees and vegetation that, in some areas, inadvertently created drainage and water ponding issues that now require attention.

The Firebreak Drainage Improvement Project is addressing these issues by grading and sloping the surfaces of the firebreaks. Altogether the work will maintain public safety and reduce the risk of water damage to neighbouring properties.
