Interim Housing Description and Application

Eligibility

Interim housing will provide an option for displaced families with children who require three or four bedrooms. Applicants' needs will be assessed and confirmed as part of the application process. All units are pet friendly with no additional pet deposit required.

Applicants must prove they were residents of the region before the fire and have the ability to pay all fees and rents.

Living in Interim Housing

The manufactured homes will be rented at market rates:

  • $2,500 per month for a three-bedroom home
  • $2,650 per month for a four-bedroom home

Approved residents will initially be required to sign a six-month lease. Three-month lease renewals may be available thereafter subject to approval, depending on the availability of other housing options in the community.

Residents will be expected to move out of interim housing once:

  • Their permanent residence has been rebuilt and is ready for occupation

Or...

  • Suitable housing becomes available in the private rental market

Residents will be responsible for payment of a damage deposit, utilities and any personal moving costs.

These homes come unfurnished. They are set on gravel pads with no sheds or other storage provided.

Application Process

If applicants are assessed and meet all criteria, they will be considered for a unit on a first-come, first-served basis.

Interested families will be able to visit a show home in Parsons Creek starting Sept. 9 and be able to submit an application on site. Watch this page for more information in the coming days.

Applicants will have to provide or complete:

  • Needs Assessment and Application Form
  • Damage deposit
  • Photo identification of applicant
  • Proof of pre-fire residence in the region
  • Identification for all household members cited in application
  • Proof of ability to pay all applicable fees
