Construction Access Roads

Temporary construction access roads have been built in Beacon Hill and Abasand to help improve safety in the two communities where there is a high concentration of rebuild activity. The roads separate construction traffic from residential traffic and help to maintain the cleanliness of public roadways in the neighbourhoods.

Any improper use of the construction access roads or use of residential roads by construction traffic should be reported to the Construction Management Teams by calling the PULSE Line at 780-743-7000.

Beacon Hill

The temporary construction access road in Beacon Hill is now open for the use of all construction traffic including builders and contractors.

The road has been built on the green space adjacent to Beacon Hill Drive and Highway 63. The road is marked and is separated from residential traffic by a fence.

All contractors and builders participating in any aspect of the rebuild in Beacon Hill must use the newly built construction access road at all times.

All residential traffic will continue to access the community using existing streets. Residential use of the temporary construction access road is limited to those accessing the Construction Management Team trailer and their individual lots or homes.

The temporary construction access road will be used for as long as is necessary to support construction efforts, after which time it will be closed and will be restored for use as a trail. The temporary construction access road is separate from the Emergency Access Road built in that community.

Abasand

The construction access road in Abasand is now open for use by all construction traffic, including builders and contractors driving vehicles weighing less than 20,000 kg.

The road has been built on the emergency access route that travels east from Abbotswood Drive to Abasand Drive.

The temporary construction access road was built to support the weight of all heavy construction equipment however, following conversations with contractors and other stakeholders, a weight restriction is being put in place to promote community safety.

Vehicles weighing more than 20,000 kg are asked to use Abasand Drive to access the community.

All residential traffic will continue to access the community using existing streets. Residential use of the temporary construction access road is restricted.

This road will eventually become a part of the Emergency Access Road in this community.
