Community Cleanup

The 2018 Spring Community Cleanup Campaign will run from April 16 to May 16.

The Municipality is here to support you in teaming up with your friends, family, coworkers and neighbours to help create a litter-free Wood Buffalo. You can volunteer anytime to cleanup a park, a trail or a greenspace along a roadway at a time that works for you.

Submit your registration to indicate the time and location for your cleanup!

Thank You!

The 2017 Community Cleanup campaign was a huge success, thanks to our dedicated volunteers! Over 7,900 volunteers participated in 2017.

Thank you to everyone who took part in keeping our community clean and litter-free.

Pick and Click Photo Contest

During each campaign, volunteers can submit photos of themselves cleaning up their selected location for a chance to win a prize.

Adopt-A-Trail / Adopt-A-Roadway Program

Adopt a section of trail or green space along Municipal roadways. Cleanup supplies are provided and can include: gloves, bags, safety vests, and litter-picking sticks.

*Safety vests and litter-picking sticks are required to be returned after cleanups are complete.

Tips for Conducting a Safe Cleanup

  • Visit your site and assess it for possible hazards. What can you do to minimize any dangers?
  • Wear gloves during your cleanup.
  • Youth under 18 must wear safety goggles when using the graffiti removing wipes.
  • Do not pick up any dangerous items including broken glass and discarded needles.
  • Volunteers are discouraged from cleaning along all highways.
  • Be very careful around parked cars, driveways, and roadways.
  • Call 780-743-7966 or email beautification@rmwb.ca to arrange for the pickup of bags when cleanup is complete.
  • Wash hands thoroughly when completed.
