Diversity & Inclusion Community Plan

The Wood Buffalo community works together to implement initiatives that help create a more welcoming and inclusive community for all. The Diversity and Inclusion Community Plan was developed by the community – for the community – through a dynamic process of input gathered at the Diversity Summits, focus groups, surveys and public engagement. The Diversity and Inclusion Community Plan guides programming and initiatives in the community and provides an accountability tool to monitor progress.

The new Plan included engagement with many community stakeholders including:

  • Diversity Summit: over 100 community stakeholders provided initial input
  • RACIDE: RACIDE developed guiding principles and goals based on summit input
  • Process survey: 156 surveys completed providing input into the process of developing the Diversity Plan and communication preferences
  • Focus groups: 19 focus groups attended by approximately 250 individuals were conducted with community organizations on inclusion, barriers and initiatives
  • Public survey: 729 respondents provided input on diversity, inclusion, identity, barriers and strategies
