Get ready to ring in the holiday season with the annual Santa Claus Parade and Lights of Christmas!
Lights of Christmas
This year, Lights of Christmas will be bigger and brighter! The Lights of Christmas event is a celebration of holiday lights with the Mayor and Santa initiating the holiday season by illuminating Jubilee Plaza. Join us for carolers, hot chocolate, and bonfires. This is an opportunity to gather prior to the Santa Claus Parade and celebrate the holiday season.

Santa Claus Parade
Watch Santa and his helpers as they float through downtown Fort McMurray for this annual Christmas tradition. The theme of this year’s parade is Santa’s Workshop, so expect to see lots of busy elves making the parade the best one yet!
Location: Franklin Ave. between Riedel Street and Morrison Street.

A: You can register a float online from Oct. 21 – Nov. 18, 2016.
Q: How much does it cost to enter a float into the parade?
A: It’s absolutely free. However there are some costs associated with getting your insurance for the event.
Q: Can I access the area within the parade route during the parade?
A: Roads along the parade route will be closed to vehicular traffic during the parade, and access in and out of the area within the parade route will also be closed to vehicles.
Q: I live in a rural community. Is busing provided for rural communities?
A: Bussing will be provided in the communities of Conklin, Janvier, Fort McKay, Anzac, Gregoire Lake Estates, Saprae Creek and Draper. For information related to rural busing, please contact your local municipal contact office.
Q: How do I get onto Santa’s “Nice” list?
A: There are lots of ways to get on Santa’s Nice List this year! You can volunteer to help out at the parade, or register a float, or talk with Santa himself at Jubilee Plaza for the Lights of Christmas! Share the holiday cheer in Wood Buffalo with your family and friends.
