Transit Introduces New Tickets

Municipal Transit Services has begun selling brand new bus tickets for conventional bus services. Tickets are sold in sheets of 18 for $21.25 (the price of 17 tickets).

Welcome to “WOOSH!” - the Municipal Transit System. Founded in 1980, we now service over 4,000 commuters a day with 71 conventional buses and 11 SMART buses.

WOOSH! operates mainly within the city limits of Fort McMurray seven days a week with some routes to the airport, Saprae Creek Estates and Gregoire Lake Estates. On Tuesdays, there is conventional service to Janvier, and on Friday there is conventional service to Conklin and Anzac. SMART Bus services Anzac on Wednesdays and Janvier on Thursdays.

There are now three bus transfer stations, located in Thickwood, Timberlea and downtown, with buses operating on 26 routes. Some routes start as early as 5 a.m. on weekdays, and others depart as late as 11 p.m., while our latest weekday bus departs the airport at 12:28 a.m. For your comfort, many of our new bus shelters are heated. Our regular conventional fleet provides for the general public while our SMART buses are for seniors and individuals with special needs.Our school buses get high school students safely to their institutions.

We pride ourselves on being world-class, convenient, prompt, toasty warm and safe as well as a healthy choice for the environment. We are definitely a ride worth taking!

Where to Catch the Bus

But stop signNeed to find a bus stop? There are 409 places to catch the bus throughout the Fort McMurray area, including 260 heated shelters, 16 non-heated shelters, and 133 stops. Bus stops are located by glassed-in bus shelters (heated), brown shelters (unheated), or are marked by lamp posts or other poles with bus stop signage. Report a Problem

If you see a vehicle parked near a bus stop, please call the Bylaw Complaint Line at 780-788-4200. If the shelter glass is broken, call 780-747-2044 ext. 104 and give them the bus shelter number which is in black letters on the outside of the shelter, near the roof.

Sunday and Holiday Transit Schedules

All statutory holidays will follow the Sunday service schedule. The Sunday service schedule typically starts later and ends earlier than our regular weekday or Saturday service. Check your route for specific times.

Beginning in 2016, buses will also run on a Sunday service schedule on Christmas day. Make plans to take transit on New Year’s Eve, as there will be extended service to accommodate residents celebrating later in the evening.

Conklin Service Holiday Updates – 2016

Conklin transit service scheduled on Good Friday, Canada Day and Remembrance Day will be changed to the Thursday that falls the day before the scheduled service. This change will allow residents of Conklin to conduct their required business on a day when all services will be open.
