Citizen Recognition Program: Mayor and Council's Toast of Champions
Do you know an exceptional individual or group that goes above and beyond to make Wood Buffalo a better place to live? The Citizen Recognition Program was created to acknowledge those who have make a significant contribution or positive impact on our communities. This is the fifth annual Citizen Recognition Program, and it’s your chance to say “thank you” to all those who work hard to improve our community.

Residents who have lived in Wood Buffalo for at least 12 consecutive months are eligible to be nominated for the Program. Nominations are based on overall achievement, impact and/or contribution to the region. There is no age limit for nominees to be eligible. Individuals and groups may be nominated every year, but may only receive this special recognition once in their lifetime.
Each nominee, their nominator and special guests will be invited to the annual ceremony on January 26, 2017. All nominees will be celebrated for their outstanding contributions, and Mayor and Councillors will select up to eight recipients from all nominations to receive special recognition at the event.
The nomination deadline is September 30, 2016.
Please ensure you have collected the following information before you begin:
- Contact information on the individual/group being nominated
- A 500 word document written by you outlining the reason for the nomination
- Two (2) 500 word documents from supporters endorsing the nomination
- Eight (8) photos of the nominee
- Your contact information
- Two (2) signed declaration letters, one from you and one from the nominee
