NOTICE is hereby given that the Council of the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo has scheduled a Public Hearing to take place on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. in the Council Chamber located at the Syncrude Athletic Park Clubhouse, 101 Cartier Road, Fort McMurray, regarding the following:

Bylaw No. 20/001 - Land Use Bylaw Text Amendment Small Holdings District - Draper and Highway 69/ Clearwater River Valley Area Structure Plan Amendment

Bylaw No. 20/001 proposes to amend Land Use Bylaw No. 99/059 to add Religious Assembly as a site-specific discretionary use to 128 Garden Lane (Lot 6, Plan 992 0950), Draper, in the Small Holdings District.  In addition, the Bylaw proposes to amend the Highway 69/Clearwater River Valley Area Structure Plan Bylaw No. 99/058 to add Religious Assembly as a discretionary use in Small Holdings.  These amendments would facilitate Tabernacle of Praise’s proposal to renovate the existing building to create space for worship, activities and office space, in addition to creating community gardens.  Administration supports the proposed amendments.

A copy of the above-noted Bylaw and all related documents may be inspected by contacting the Planning and Development Department (309 Powder Drive, Timberlea Landing, Fort McMurray);or Legislative Services (7th Floor, Jubilee Centre, Fort McMurray), between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. Bylaw No. 20/001 is also available on the Municipality’s website at www.rmwb.ca/hearings. 

If you would like to appear before Council: 

You must forward a request to the Chief Legislative Officer, clearly stating your support or opposition of the Bylaw, along with any related information, by:

Registering on-line at public hearing submission page ;

Emailing Legislative.Assistants@rmwb.ca; or

Calling Legislative Services at 780-743-7001.

Ensure that your correspondence includes your address, and a telephone number or e-mail address at which you may be contacted.  

All submissions must be received by the Chief Legislative Officer by 12:00 noon, Wednesday, February 5, 2020.

Council may choose to hear from persons who may not have made a written submission prior to the public hearing.  Subject to Council’s consent to speak at the hearing, anyone who wishes to also distribute written material at the time of their presentation should bring 15 copies of their material for distribution.

Please note any information you submit to Council for their consideration at Public Hearings is added in its entirety to the agenda, which is made available to the public and posted on the Municipality’s website.
