Led by Fort McMurray writer Therese Greenwood, this workshop will help new writers navigate the first steps in telling their story of the 2016 wildfire- whether the goal is preserving a family's story, sharing insights, expressing thanks, gaining perspective, or getting published. Join us for a day of Skate Culture. There will be skateboard and bmx competitions for youth and a graffiti demonstration from Liam Mojique. Also featuring live punk, metal and hip- hop music from Fort McMurray and Edmonton on The District Recording Studio stage plus Skateboard and BMX demonstrations from Hazel Eye Wear. A video game tournament, barbecue in support of Holy Trinity Teens 4 Change and much more cap off this exciting day of entertainment!

Screening of “On the Trail of the Far Fur Country”

A free screening of the documentary of “On the Trail of the Far Fur Country”.
Synopsis: In 1919, a film crew set out on an epic journey across Canada's North. Over the course of six months, their expedition traveled by icebreaker, canoe, and dog sled, capturing the Canadian fur trade in a silent feature documentary. Rediscovering the documentary in a British archive, another film crew begins a journey to bring this lost film back to life, taking it to the northern communities where the film was originally shot. As people watch the footage from 1919, something special happens. Images come to life; people recognize their family members, their landscapes, and their lost traditions.

Mental Health Mural

You're invited to contribute to a mural at the Canadian Mental Health Association of Wood Buffalo. The goal of the mural is to initiate discussions around mental illness will help dispel the stigma around mental illness, promote inclusivity, and build stronger community relationships.

Are you new to auditioning in Fort McMurray? Are you 16+? Do you want to practice your skills, or pick up something new? Back by popular demand – it’s another Theatre; Just Because auditioning workshop! 
Join Diana Moser and Justin Shaw of Theatre; Just Because to practice the basics of having a great audition in Fort McMurray! Participants will take away key tips & tricks and even test out their new skills in a mock audition. This workshop will focus primarily on practicing a cold read – how does an actor prepare for a brand new scene in an audition? No experience needed!
