The Municipal Heritage Plaque program tells the stories of the significant people, places and events in the history of our community. There are currently 21 Heritage Plaques located across Wood Buffalo, with each one highlighting a different chapter from our past. Take a walk and learn about the history of our region!

The plaques are property of the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo with special thanks to the Fort McMurray Heritage Society, The Town of Athabasca Archives and the Provincial Archives of Alberta for assisting with the historic content included on each plaque.
