The La Loche winter trail has opened for the season with a load limit of 27,500 kg or less.

Motorists with vehicles heavier than 27,500 kg are requested to stay off the winter trail. Overly heavy vehicles could damage the trail causing safety hazards.

Crews continue to work along the trail, so please obey all posted signage and watch for workers and equipment. When passing equipment, please reduce speed to 30 km/h for everyone’s safety.

High clearance 4x4 vehicles are recommended. The section east of the Christina River has rough sections so reduce speed and drive to conditions.

There are no regular services like road patrol, gas stations or cell phone coverage, so always be prepared for emergencies.
