Drywall Support Program

On May 1, 2017, Western Economic Diversification Canada launched the Drywall Support program to provide financial relief to Western and Northern Canadian drywall contractors and builders, as well as Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo residents whose homes were severely damaged or destroyed in the 2016 Horse River Wildfire.

Between Sept. 6, 2016, and Feb. 24, 2017, building costs increased in parts of Canada due to higher duties placed on imported drywall from the United States. These increased building costs directly impacted contractors, builders and homeowners in the RMWB who were, and still are, in the rebuild phase of recovery.

Applications and eligibility requirements for the Drywall Support Program can be found on Western Economic Diversification Canada’s website.

Applications will be accepted until Tuesday, June 13 at 2 p.m. MST.
