[27-04-2020 at 1:00 a.m.] AHS directing RMWB to issue Boil Water Advisory for Fort McMurray north of Athabasca River bridges

(Fort McMurray, AB – April 27, 2020) – Due to reports of discolouration in tap water Fort McMurray neighbourhoods north of the Athabasca River bridges, Alberta Health Services has directed the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo to issue a boil water advisory. Homes and businesses in this area should boil water until further notice, this includes the neighbourhoods of:

  • Dickinsfield
  • Eagle Ridge
  • Parsons Creek
  • Stone Creek
  • Thickwood
  • Timberlea
  • Wood Buffalo
  • Taiga Nova Eco-Industrial Park

Areas south of the Athabasca River bridges are not affected at this time.

Water in the affected area is safe for bathing and general use. Under a boil water advisory, tap water that has not been boiled should not be used for the following:

  • Drinking
  • Cooking
  • Making baby formula
  • Making ice
  • Washing fruits or vegetables
  • Brushing teeth
  • Pets
