Municipality welcoming volunteer applications for the 2022 Arctic Winter Games Host Society Director positions

(Fort McMurray, AB – May 31, 2019) – The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo is now welcoming applications for volunteers to serve as Directors on the 2022 Arctic Winter Games Host Society.

“This gives members of our community the opportunity to be involved in a significant community event” said co-chair of the Host Society, Nicole Bourque-Bouchier.  “We are going to deliver an experience that the athletes, coaches, parents and visitors to our region will remember for a lifetime.”

When a municipality is awarded the right to host an Arctic Winter Games, it forms a Host Society to manage the event based on the terms of the hosting contract and the AWG Staging Manual.  The Host Society will plan, develop and deliver all aspects of the 2022 Wood Buffalo Arctic Winter Games.

“An event of this magnitude requires a great deal of planning and we are looking forward to getting started with the Directors as a Host Society,” said Melissa Blake, co-chair of the Host Society.

Director – Administration
