Advocating for the RMWB at the 2019 AUMA Convention

(Fort McMurray, AB – Sept. 30, 2019) – Members of Council met with provincial cabinet ministers and other elected officials as part of recent advocacy efforts in Edmonton. The meetings coincided with the 2019 Alberta Urban Municipalities Association (AUMA) Convention, which was held from September 25-27.

“We met with several key cabinet ministers whose portfolios are particularly important for our region, including Education, Infrastructure, Energy, Municipal Affairs and Seniors and Housing,” said Mayor Don Scott. “We had positive discussions with each of the ministers and advocated for projects and priorities that will position the region for future success.”

Mayor Scott added: “As we have a new government in Edmonton, these meetings are an excellent opportunity to foster effective relationships with provincial decision-makers and, at the same time, promote our region’s opportunities and strengths.”

Mayor Scott was joined at the AUMA Convention by Councillors Krista Balsom, Sheila Lalonde, Keith McGrath, Verna Murphy, Jane Stroud and Claris Voyageur, as well as Chief Administrative Officer Annette Antoniak. The AUMA represents urban municipalities in Alberta and advocates for solutions to municipal issues.
