Animal waste disposal and drop-off event – April 13

(Fort McMurray, AB – April 9, 2019) – As the warm weather approaches and spring cleaning begins, residents are invited to two animal waste drop-off locations to facilitate proper disposal.

Has your pet been using your backyard as a washroom all winter? Are you cleaning up your pet’s waste after a long winter? This program is for you.

Two animal waste drop-off locations will be available on Saturday, April 13. This free service will be available from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.:
Casman Centre parking lot - 110 Eymundson Rd., Thickwood
Waterways Dog Park – Beside Tom Weber Boat Launch (formerly Horse Pasture Park), Waterways

Don’t forget to double-bag your animal waste as it can contain harmful bacteria and viruses. Parks staff will then take all waste to the municipal landfill for proper disposal.

Please note that open-top containers and barrels full of animal waste cannot be accepted. Please be sure to double bag and secure animal waste for everyone’s health and safety.

Residents are reminded that animal waste disposal is not permitted within any curbside collection service programs. Instead, residents are invited to bring their waste to one of the drop-off events or bring their waste to the municipal landfill located 8.5 km south on Highway 63.

Animal waste drop-off is free of charge and includes fecal matter, kitty litter, training pads, soiled wood chips and newspapers.
